A little about our Senior Ministers

Craig and Deborah serve as senior ministers at Brave Church. They have been married for 32 years and have three grown up daughters, a grand-daughter and two grand-sons! They bring a huge wealth of experience and wisdom from their years in ministry and various social work settings. Craig has many years experience working as a registered social worker within child protection and adult safeguarding settings. Deborah has been successful in building a large charity in Hyndburn that provides health and wellbeing services to the local community.

In January 2022 God called Craig and Deborah into ministry with an emphasis of combining faith with actions. Brave Church is committed to being a contemporary and relevant influence in the community and beyond.

A quick note from our Senior Ministers…

It is our honour to serve God in leading Brave Church together with an amazing team of people. We have lived in the local community of Hyndburn our whole lives. We are passionate about making a positive difference to the area and seeing the amazing transformation in peoples lives. Our motivation lies within our love for Jesus and His people; this stimulates our faith into action. We believe in the power of a relevant local church where all can find a place to belong and thrive. We are committed to boldly declaring the gospel and meeting peoples needs through community action. We have a heart to ‘speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves’.

At Brave Church, we are:

Our Purpose

Brave Church exists to lead people who are far from God into a relationship with

Him, to help them discover their purpose, become all that God intended them to

be and to live the brave and courageous life that God has called them to live.

Mission

Our mission is by the leading of the Holy Spirit to bravely REACH UP to God in

worship. To REACH OUT to our communities with compassion, love and

acceptance. To REACH IN by growing as disciples of Jesus and to REACH

BEYOND by building a church that is relevant for future generations.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a church that:

  • Is a vibrant welcoming and gracious community where everyone has a place of significance, where nobody will be judged, overlooked or forgotten.

  • Pursues God’s presence, who are dependant upon the Holy Spirit to lead and empower.

  • Communicates the gospel with passion and authenticity.

  • Will not turn away from community needs but will respond with love and generosity.

  • Worships Jesus passionately through song, prayer, declaration and actions.

  • Shares the good news of Jesus Christ to the community of Hyndburn and beyond.

  • Learn to live in love and harmony with each other.

  • Builds generationally where the young will bring strength, energy and vibrancy, and the mature will bring wisdom, experience and wise counsel.

  • The hurting, the depressed and the confused can find love and acceptance.

  • Promotes health and hope and model forgiveness.

  • Will be authentic and speak the truth when providing encouragement and guidance.

  • Will speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and see that the crushed and the poor and helpless gain their voice.

  • Develops people to spiritual maturity through Biblical teaching and principles and to develop leaders for each generation.

  • Every member will be encouraged to discover their giftings as we serve each other and plan towards significant ministry, their ministry in their world by helping them discover their gifts and talents that God gave them.

  • Sends out believers to reach beyond our borders.

  • Dreams for a church with a family centre, counseling centre and prayer rooms with a worship centre to facilitate spiritual, emotional and physical growth.

We aspire to be:

A God Centered Community

God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the centre of all the mission, vision and

values of the church

A Praying Community

Prayer will be our starting point

A Faith Community

Our vision will be God sized not man sized

We will build through vision

A Relational Community

People are our priority. The church is a living community—not a building, event

or style.

A Welcoming Community

Presenting a message of grace in a place of love, acceptance, and forgiveness.

A Devoted Community

Following Jesus with full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every

Christian.

A Worshiping Community

That honors God in corporate gatherings of praise and a life of service to the

King.

An Authentic Community

Helping people live the Christian life with integrity in a non-religious, relational,

and practical way.

A Generational Community

We value every generation where all ages worship, serve and share life together

as we build for the future.

A Biblical Community

We value the Scriptures and believe in the transforming power of God’s Word.

A Community Without Walls

Spiritual growth and Christian community happen best in small groups and

‘church’ must happen where people live, work, and play. Not just where they go

on a Sunday.

A Relevant Community

Contemporary in style and practical in application whilst remaining biblically

consistent.

An Accountable Community

Churches should be led humbly by men and women who are called with

leadership gifts and an awareness of their accountability to God and role as

stewards of the body whose head is Christ.

An Excellent Community

Excellence inspires people, honors God and reveals His nature.

A Generous Community

We will meet needs with the resources entrusted to us

A Church That Places Character Above Gifting

A person’s character will be valued above their gifting

A Missional Community

We exist not for ourselves but to transform the world in service to others.
